I didn’t grow up in a home that practiced the tradition of Lent, but I am drawn to the idea of doing something special for the 40 days leading up to Easter. It’s so easy to let the season go by and miss the point of it all, which is Jesus.
So I put together a collection of 40 Scriptures for Lent. These verses are ones that the Holy Spirit laid on my heart as I was preparing it. I am excited to see what He would have to say to me (and us, if you’d like to join!) during this season.
I plan on reading the verse for the day in the morning (or during my time with the Lord) and taking a minute to meditate on its meaning. I then hope to remember to think about it throughout the day!! I will be praying that the Holy Spirit gives us new and fresh insight into His words. (He is the author, so I’m sure He has a pretty good idea!)
This might even be something I do with my kids in the morning at breakfast and see what God would have to say to them through it. We can all ask God together to show us what He wants us to see through His word.
Some of the verses are just a little blurb from the original passage, removed from its context. (Actually, most are, really!) So if one doesn’t make sense without the other verses around it, I encourage you to look it up in your Bible and get the fullness of what is being said.
I also plan on posting what I am personally receiving from God each day through the assigned scripture on Facebook. I would love if you would join me and share what you are getting as well, or how God has used it in your life that day. It will help to keep me accountable too! And I always love it when God gives me new understanding of Himself through someone else’s revelation. You can join in by liking the page here (or below)!
